The Mighty Destroyer
One of my favorite Super-Heroes of the Golden Age of Comics was the Mighty Destroyer. The Destroyer was a back up character who in Timely Comics (Marvel) appeared in "Mystic Comics", "All Winners", "USA Comics", and a few other titles. The Destroyer was revived in the late 70's by Roy Thomas and Frank Robbins in the World War II themed comic book, "The Invaders".
Above and below are samples of Robbins artwork of the character from The Invaders series.
He would certainly get my vote for best costume of The Golden Age.

Huckleberry Hero Hump-Day
This week our Hound Dog Hero portrays DC Comics scarlet speedster, the Silver Age Flash.
This one I've wrestled with for a while. Should I draw it "straight" or "comically". Having Huck (The Flash) running fast had the potential for a funny sketch. But I also wanted to do one honoring the artist who co-created him, Carmine Infantino. So I decided to do both.
The top sketch is the Infantino Tribute, re-creating one of his covers of the Scarlet Speedster.
The middle sketch is done in a animated style, following the lessons of one of the great animators, Preston Blair. I used the effect of him getting ready to take off.
Finally I drew Huck in the style of the artist who first drew Ol' Huck and his Pals in Comic Books, Harvey Eisenberg. Eisenberg was a great artist who drew all the the Hanna-Barbera characters dating all the way back to Tom and Jerry's first appearance in Comic Books. I thought his style would be great for this "bullet gag".

Huckleberry Hero Hump-Day
Orion of the New Gods
Howdy y'all, this here is your pal Huckleberry Hound. This week Marc let introduce my Hero portrayal's myself, so let's git started. First I don the costume of one the Hero's of New Genesis, Orion. (Heh-I kinda like the helmet)
Next I git real big and climb a couple of buildings to portray one of the founding members of Marvel's super-hero team The Avengers, Giant Man.
Marc tells me that both of these Heroes were created by that great Comic Book Artist, Jack Kirby. I hope I done him proud.
See ya next week.

Coming...TODAY!
So who's Birthday is it today?
For a long time I've been wanting to do a bunch of birthday themed sketches to send to friends and family as e-cards, so I used the occasion of my own birthday to start drawing them. I planned on coloring the above two, but I spent most of the day fighting a migraine headache.
I have a few more in the works so when I get those finished, I'll post all of them in color.
